This picture represents the first time that I successfully used a channel mixer layer to fix an image that was pretty much ruined by bad white balance. The image before was completely washed out in yellow, had minimal contrast, and really looked nothing like what I was going for. Using a channel mixer and a live histogram that showed the 3 separate RGB channels, I managed to bring the colors under control. Props to you, Photoshop.
Also softened the image up a bit with a diffuse layer. I like this effect, even if it's a bit overused.
Update: Sidney & Darren, as requested, you can check out the original, out of camera image here. It's a good idea -- I had thought of including it but just neglected to do so in a moment of laziness, and didn't think anyone would miss it.
