the colours of memory

I couldn't sleep last night, and after getting out of bed to take some dismally failed long exposure shots of my room, I turned the tripod around to try for a self portrait. Forgetting I had set the self-timer on 2 seconds, I took a photo and looked away, and ended up with what you see here. Even though it's an entirely accidental shot, I really like how it turned out and think that any other self portrait would not have been able to capture how I was feeling as well. I would love to hear what you think about this.

Using a similar technique (only this time much more deliberate), I also took a "normal" photo of myself for the about page, which I promised to spruce up somehow. In the anonymity of the Internet, I always find it interesting to note how different people look than how I expect. Is this the case here? If so, by all means, drop me a line.

I had my headphones on for all these shots because I was enjoying my Ulrich Schnauss way too much.

I'll be leaving to check out apartments near work (around Chicago) tomorrow, and won't be back until Friday, so unfortunately I'm going to have to take a small break from this site. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some nice photos to fill up that dinky 128MB CF card of mine.
